Here at Birmingham Irish we have always marked St Brigid’s Day within our organisation.
On the lead up to February 1st (The feast day of St Brigid) we celebrated in many ways during the week.
We started the day off with an Irish tradition, a slice of barmbrack and a lovely cup of tea ☕
Our celebrations consisted of the group getting a step by step guide from our wonderful Dementia Centre Co – Ordinator Sharon showing everyone how to make their very own St Brigid's crosses. During this demonstration and activity the Staff, Volunteers and Service users had a great giggle together which was great to see.
The group also watched a video all about the story of St Brigid, this allowed everyone to then fill in the blanks of the story and also complete a quiz which was great fun.
Everyone had Colcannon for lunch a traditional Irish dish which certainly went down a treat.
To celebrate special and admirable women in our lives, we also made cards to an inspirational woman in our life which was very special and all service users were able to take them home to their family’s ✨ Everyone had a fantastic day!
