This very reason is why we are so grateful to have reopened our Outreach Dementia School Sessions to local schools within the Birmingham community, with the support of BBC Children in Need. Through this project, we have been providing a safe space where pupils can learn about dementia in a child-friendly, fun and engaging way, whilst also being able to discuss worries or concerns they may have in a safe and trusting space.
Since reopening this year, we have been able to deliver sessions to Our Lady of Fatima Primary School in Harbourne and The Abbey Primary School in Erdington, and we are hoping to grow this project even further in the coming few months. To all staff and students who have joined us in this venture in 2021 so far, we would like to extend our thanks. We can't express what it means for us to be able to deliver sessions, and to see the children's wonderful engagement and creativity.
For their wonderful support during this incredibly challenging and unpredictable period, we would also like to express monumental thanks to BBC Children in Need. Without their generosity, it would have been very challenging to reach just as many individuals, families and classes as we have done this year, so for this, we cannot thank you enough.
As we are aiming to grow our Outreach Dementia School Project, we are always on the lookout for new schools who would like to join us. To find out more about how we can help your school, please email our Children's Support Worker Paulene, through paulene@birish.org.uk.
