Mick O’ Brien’s magnificent gesture for our Toy Appeal
Birmingham Irish • November 11, 2020
Many of you may already be aware of our Christmas Toy Appeal
and the utterly astounding response we have had from the community for this since September.
This month, we would like to share how one of our most dedicated supporters and dear friend of the organisation, Mick O’ Brien, completed a sponsored challenge to support the appeal in giving as many families as possible a gift for their child on Christmas Day.
Between 7th and the 12th November, this wonderful man walked along all of the major canals in Birmingham, Warwickshire and the Black Country, thus clocking up over 80 miles in total and all to raise awareness of our appeal. We can't even begin to thank Mick enough for going out of his way to plan and complete this incredible challenge, as donations have poured in as a result. We can safely say that he is an absolute hero.
At the moment, our staff here at the Birmingham Irish Association are preparing the delivery of gifts from the Appeal to parents, but keep a look out in next months' newsletter to find out just how many families we have been able to help through the campaign this Christmas.
