Irish in Britain Volunteer Awards 2024 - Group win for The Ramblers

Birmingham Irish • July 26, 2024

We have some wonderful news to share about a group of Birmingham Irish Association (BIA) volunteers.

Irish in Britain Volunteer Awards 2024

Our Volunteer Co-ordinator, Róisín Mason, nominated BIA’s volunteer led group ‘The Ramblers’ in this year’s Irish in Britain 2024 Volunteer Awards and they won! This is a marvellous volunteer led group; their enthusiasm is infectious.

Always thinking ahead, the group ensures that walks are accessible to all, the variety of walks they plan are incredible. The encouragement and support they have for each other ensures no one is left behind. This group provides the social space for everyone to thrive, develop new skills, have new experiences, and meet new people whilst  also looking after their mental and physical wellbeing.

"A wonderful day in London"

The group (Chris Jennings, Maureen Collier, Ann Miller and Ann Samuel) had a fantastic day in London accompanied by our Activities Co-ordinator, Liam Blackwood, who provides a soundboard for the group when planning their activities.

They received a warm welcome and were made to feel very special when attending the awards ceremony by all those involved at Irish in Britain, held in Hammersmith’s Irish Cultural Centre.

Here is Irish in Britain’s report of the day: 'Volunteering changes lives': Irish in Britain's 2024 Volunteer Awards

"Sending out a huge Congratulations to The Ramblers group from all at Birmingham Irish Association."
