On Friday 4 October Birmingham Irish Association hosted our Volunteers Awards Evening 2024.
Each volunteer received an invitation to be in attendance of this celebration. As an organisation we wanted to show our appreciation to our dedicated volunteering team.
We have many different services running each day throughout our organisation thanks to our volunteers.
Dementia Care Support Worker – Sharon Toy
“The volunteers are the backbone of the centres, giving up their free time each week to support each client. They make a positive impact on each and every one of our lovely clients. The centres wouldn’t be able to run as smoothly and has effectively as they do without all the support of the wonderful volunteers.”
Office Manager – Catherine Kelly
“Volunteers are so important within the front office and without them I would be lost! They are the front of house to greet the public, have a chat with them and take their details. While I’m processing applications they answer the phone, take messages, run the shop and even do the photos for passports. They bring such a happy warmth and make the day brighter and run smoother”
Volunteer Coordinator – Roisin Mason
Why is it important for BIA to have volunteers?
“Volunteers are the lifeblood of Birmingham Irish Association (BIA), they complement and enhance the work done by our staff. Coming from many different backgrounds means that they bring with them a wide range of skills and experience. Their enthusiasm, dedication, ideas and feedback provides BIA with the opportunity for improvement and growth. They help us to develop our services in new ways, enabling us to reach and support more people in the community. Our projects wouldn’t be able to run in the ways that they do without our amazing team of volunteers.”
The evening consisted of a delicious meal for all, a surprise magician and of course lots of singing and dancing.
Each volunteer was presented by the CEO Maurice Malone with a trophy and a certificate as a thank you for the volunteer’s dedication to our services throughout the year.
On behalf of the Birmingham Irish Staff, Trustee’s and service users we thank you all!
