Hello Birmingham, we wish a happy and healthy new year to you all.
In this month’s edition of our newsletter, we wanted to send a reminder to you that although we are still facing hard times, we will emerge from this together with the strength and love we have shown to each other in 2020.
As an organisation, we are here for you all just as much as last year, and in this article, we would like to let you know of our 2021 services which will allow this, despite the current difficulties our community is facing.
In March 2020, we launched our emergency helpline number (0121 647 5105) for those facing problems of all kinds caused by the pandemic. Your calls to this number over the past year have enabled us to help countless individuals with their unique circumstances. Therefore, we will be keeping this line open until we are all safe and sound once again. Our helpline is managed by our staff and is open from 9am until 8pm, 7 days a week.
Throughout 2020, we have also seen our hot meal and lunch bag delivery service grow in popularity as so many depend on us for meals each day. In 2021, we are continuing our hot meal delivery service on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and will be accepting new orders through our helpline (0121 647 5105).
Throughout the second half of 2020, we were also operating a hot meal and lunch bag collection service alongside our deliveries. In 2021, we are continuing to offer this on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday between the hours of 11am and 12pm.
Please be assured that social distancing will continue to remain throughout by our staff and food will be distributed in an orderly and safe fashion in strict accordance to the Government guidelines.
Towards the end of 2020, we hoped that we would be able to open our main office to you all to assist with general enquiries as done in the past, but due to the announcement of our latest national lockdown, this unfortunately wasn’t the case. Therefore, our Digbeth office will remain closed to the public for all general enquiries, but we will arrange appointments for emergencies.
To book an emergency appointment, please call our helpline on 0121 647 5105 or if you require general assistance, please email info@birish.org.uk or call 0121 604 611. We will ensure that your call is directed to the correct department and someone will contact you as quickly as possible.
In addition to this, we would like to also include a small side note about our services. During 2020, we have been able to help so many people from the community who have called from our helpline with very unique enquiries such as requests for radios to keep loneliness at bay when self-isolating, through to referrals to food banks in the community.
We want to let you know that even if the services mentioned above do not directly solve an enquiry in mind from yourself or a loved one, we can still help through referrals in our database of contacts in our community, so please don’t hesitate to call us.
We have no doubt that there are still tough times ahead for us all in 2021, but by standing as one, having faith and showing strength and love, we will emerge stronger than ever before and celebrate once this battle is won.
Please stay safe and may God bless you all.
